Researcher biography
Dr Chang Lei specialises in nanotechnology-based biomarkers detection, advanced bone regeneration and dental applications.
Dr Chang Lei has published 39 research articles including 2 book chapters, 89% of the publications in Q1 journals; 21% of the publications in the top 10% most-cited publications worldwide. Her work has been cited by 228 organisations, 35 countries and in 26 research areas (Source: Web of Science & Scopus). Dr Chang Lei's research interests include nanotechnology-based biomarkers detection, mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metabolomics, advanced bone regeneration and dental applications. She has available projects "A Nano-platform for Affordable and Ultra-sensitive Bio-marker Detection" and "Silica bio-nanomaterials assisted stem cell differentiation for bone repair".
Dr Chang Lei completed her PhD in nanotechnology and bioengineering at The University of Queensland (UQ) in 2016 under the supervision of Professor Chengzhong Yu – a world leader in nanotechnology research.
After that, she won the Advance Queensland research fellowship in 2017, which allowed her to continue her research in bio-analysis. In 2021, Dr Chang Lei is awarded the competitive UQ Amplify Fellow.
Industry
The collaboration between Dr Chang Lei and Ellume Limited has successfully secured an Advance Queensland Fellowship and an ARC linkage project. Ellume owns the first FDA approved COVID-19 home Diagnostic test, Dr Lei is currently working with Ellume to develop the next generation of COVID-19 home test kit.
Collaborations
Dr Chang Lei’s multidisciplinary research program involves a wide research network, evidenced by publishing articles with 89 Australian and international researchers (Scopus, November 2021). She has built strong national and international collaborations including Professor Saso Ivanovski, Professor Laurence Walsh, and Professor Chen Chen (1 second author paper) from UQ; Professor Yin Xiao from QUT; Professor Jingjing Wan from East China Normal University and Professor Xing Long from Wuhan. She has also built connections with leading industry partners such as Ellume Ltd (Australia), iMS Clinic Biological Technology Co. LTD (China), Fosun Long March (China) and BioMaric (Belgium).
